Characteristics from Design A, Type A
  • Identification Code: mv1cr-aa
  • General: Circular shape with continous oblique grained edge.
  • Obverse: Circular rim with dot beading. In the center, over the field, bust of Liberty facing right with loose hair and a Phrygian cap on his head. Along the base of the cap the legend "LIBERTAD". Surrounding the field, the legend "REPUBLICA DE VENEZUELA" «Republic of Venezuela». Below the bust, "WWYION" from the engraver William Wyon.
  • Reverse: Circular rim with dot beading. In the center, over the field within a laurel wreath linked from the bottom, the face value "1" / "CENTAVO" and the year.
  • Note about amount of pieces: The amount of coinage minted by Birmingham in 1852 is not accurate.
  • Composition: Copper
  • Weight: 10.9 - 12.1 Grams
