This site catalogs and show information about coins and banknotes from Venezuela, to help the difusion of this patrimony to the world and our country. The information contained in this website is in constant expansion, remaining only to be catalogued essais coins, patterns and trial strikes. Maybe there are some rare pieces that are not in the catalog, mostly specimen notes and notes issued before 1940. We welcome any comments, corrections, new information or pictures. Due to the dynamic of numismatic market, this site cannot provide the value of numismatic pieces, however as a guide, many prices are related to rarity, conservation, supply and demand. There are some catalogs that may help to get an approximate value, which is listed at Bibliography inside the References section. There is a new book Coins and Banknotes of Venezuela, 500 years in the trade by Carlos Alberto Camacho Castellanos which describes the economic and trading systems used since pre-hispanic era of Venezuela to the modern era, ranging from the use of barter, tokens, coins and banknotes. Illustrated with photographs, describes the monetary instruments used. It also describes the value of goods and services at different times to illustrate the evolution of the economy. Some time ago it has been received reports about banknotes of 2000 Bolívares with date Febrero 10 1998 and serie "E8". However, through bibliography and information exchange, it has been known that there was never an official issue with the serie "E8" with this date instead only in Agosto 06 1998. Based on this information, this authentic piece are print error, maybe during the letterpress printing which instead the serie prefix "D", it was printed the prefix "E". Through a press release from the Banco Central de Venezuela about an International Bidding, there has been known the intention to purchase coin blanks for minting the new 2 BsF coin and other known denominations except 1 and 12 1/2 Céntimos Fuertes. Serial range for 10 Bolívares Fuerte replacement serie Z8 banknote, date Marzo 20, 2007 May 16th, 2010 
Thanks to a commentary from Eduardo Sudnicki, following a research and reviewing 10 Bolívares Fuerte replacement banknote piece identified as bbcv10bsf-aa01r, the serial range will be split, due to the lack of evidence of existence of a piece with serial number between Z00784294 (last known piece) and Z02077409 (first known piece), hence there would be an estimated serial number interruption at Z00787500-Z02000000. At a glance, there is no graphic difference between both intervals. This third interval is identified as bbcv10bsf-aa01r3. It's known that there was three printers that printed the banknotes with this date, so, there should be three serial number range of replacement banknotes, maybe this one would be printed by the Chilean Print and Minting House, however, the serial number style is different to the piece printed by this printer, (serial prefix g8), hence the printer of this third interval will be meanwhile unknown.
